Rijkrallpa
Shisha revisited | 5.4% ALC. VOL | 20 IBU | Brewed in 2016 (limited edition)
The winged god who gave up his wings for a transcontinental collaboration
The portrait
Rijkrallpa is our shamanic journey in a bottle. A cosmic collision between the Andes and the Alps, orchestrated with our accomplices at Cerveza Cumbres in Lima. We took an ancestral chicha de jora recipe and teleported it into the 21st century.
Jora corn provides this unique cereal base, almost alien to our European palates. But here's the twist: we threw Swiss currants into the equation. The light acidity of these small red berries creates a fascinating intercultural dialogue with the sweetness of Peruvian corn. It's our version of the telephone between two cans, except here the cans are separated by an ocean.
Cold brewed aromatic herbs? Our masterstroke. A bouquet that explodes between mysterious spices and enveloping sweetness. At 20 IBUs, bitterness plays a discreet role. This beer tells a story—that of a god who prefers to walk among mortals rather than hover above them.
The story
This creation was born from an unlikely encounter between La Nébuleuse and Cerveza Cumbres. The pretext? The "Angel of the Andes" exhibition at the Roman Museum in Lausanne-Vidy. We thought: why not create a beer that would itself be a work of liquid art?
Rijkrallpa, the winged Moche god who chose to live among humans, became our muse. His legend spoke of renunciation and connection. Our beer was to embody this bridge between two worlds. The Peruvian brewers brought their millennia-old expertise, we our Swiss approach to precision. The result defies classification.
This limited edition accompanied the exhibition until January 2017. A beer event that proved that one could engage in taste archaeology while creating something resolutely modern.
Food and beer pairings
The Rijkrallpa transcended culinary boundaries:

-
Smoked trout tartare
-
In contemplative meditation facing the Andes... or the Alps
The final word
The Rijkrallpa remains in our archives as THE collaboration that should never have worked on paper. Peruvian corn + Swiss currants + mysterious herbs = an impossible equation? Not for us. This unique edition proved that it was possible to create taste bridges between continents.
For the lucky ones who tasted it during the expo, it was more than a beer—it was an anthropological journey in three sips. Rijkrallpa may have given up his wings, but his liquid version made us soar. A tribute to the gods who prefer to walk among us.
Cheers! 🍻
